I was
born in Perth Amboy NJ in 1985 to parents of both Dominican and
Puerto Rican Decent. At an early age I discovered my immense
love for music, dance and everything that is the arts. All
throughout grammar school I participated in dance contests and
dance performances. I later became a member of the national
award winning dance team led by Jennifer Kyle. In 7th grade I
was accepted into my middle school’s Latin Dance program where I
would learn salsa on 1. From there on out I would participate in
city festivals and competitions with the Juan Cruz Dancers. In
high school I choreographed routines for various sweet 16’s,
wedding and talent shows because what I had learned thru Juan
Cruz.
After moving to NYC in 2005 I felt I needed to expand my
knowledge of Salsa, so I began taking classes at The Sandra
Cameron School of Dance. There I grew as a salsa dancer on 1.
Shortly after I was invited to join the amazing sketch comedy
troupe, “Lose Control” where I began acting, something that I
hadn’t done since high school. Thru Lose Control I met Carolyn
Hulse and was offered a spot in Carolyn’s dance troupe.
Though I still am working on my acting career, my heart is in
dance.
In 2007-2008, Jose Batista-Ayala accepted a position as
Principal Dancer for "Siempre En El Ritmo Dance Company"
directed by Frank "Ritmo" Garcia. It is here that Jose along
with his partner Camil will take this team to the highest levels.
